1. Concept
– Asphalt lotion is mixed with resin+water solvent+emulsifier
Emulsified asphalt is a mixture of two immiscible liquids (asphalt and water). Asphalt (particles with a diameter of 0.1-5 microns) is dispersed in water. Asphalt particles remain in a charged suspended state and are stabilized by emulsifiers (with surface activity).
– Forming bond: when asphalt lotion is mixed with mineral aggregate or sprayed on the pavement, water evaporates, emulsifier penetrates into the mineral aggregate, asphalt lotion separates, and tiny asphalt particles will approach each other to form a thin layer, dense on the surface of the mineral aggregate particles=>forming bonds.
Acid asphalt lotion is made of high hardness asphalt (the setting needle is less than or equal to 100.0.1mm).
2. Classification
2.1 Based on the structure of the adhesive particles
– Asphalt lotion cis
– Reverse asphalt lotions
2.2 Based on the root of the emulsifier
Anionic emulsified asphalt (TCVN 13506:2022)
Type of asphalt lotion using emulsifier with negative ion surface activity=>Therefore, asphalt lotion is alkaline (also called alkaline asphalt lotion)
At present, the popular alkaline asphalt lotion are as follows:
Explanation:
+K1-70 is a cationic lotion with rapid setting and 70% asphalt content
A2-50 is a semi-stable anionic lotion with the asphalt content of 50%.
+Other symbols:
EA: Emulsified asphalt
AEA: Anionic Emulsified Asphalt (an alkaline emulsifier that gives it a negative charge)
CEA: Cationic emulsifier Asphalt acid based emulsifier (the acid based emulsifier wrapped around it gives it a positive charge).
2.3 According to separation speed
– Rapid separation of asphalt lotion
– Moderately separated asphalt lotion
– Slowly separate asphalt lotion
2.4 Based on nature
– Ordinary asphalt lotion
– Polymer asphalt lotion

H hard base asphalt is made of high hardness asphalt, with high hardness (streamlined, from 40 to 90...<100; 0.1mm)
Soft base asphalt refers to an alkaline asphalt lotion made of soft and low hardness (settlement needle>100; 0.1mm) asphalt
1. Has low viscosity
2 Has high viscosity
Asphalt lotion uses emulsifiers with positive ionic surface activity, so asphalt lotion it is acidic (also known as acidic asphalt lotion)
