What are the main innovations in the preparation of modified styrene butadiene latex?

Innovation in preparation method:

 

1. Unique temperature control curve: The reaction temperature is controlled by a saddle-shaped temperature control curve, 67°C in the early stage, 63°C in the middle stage, and 73°C in the late stage. When producing small-particle polybutadiene latex for the production of ABS, the reaction temperature is increased to 63-69°C before the conversion rate is 40%; the reaction temperature is controlled at 60-66°C during the conversion period of 40%-80%; when the conversion rate is above 80%, the reaction temperature is controlled at 73-75°C. This temperature control method realizes the stable control of PB polymerization heat release after shortening the reaction time, improves the monomer conversion rate, increases the stability of the latex, and reduces the precipitates during the reaction process.

 

2. Use of composite electrolyte: Use a composite multifunctional electrolyte, which is made by mixing sodium pyrophosphate or disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate (EDTA) and potassium carbonate in a certain proportion. The electrolyte has multiple functions such as promoter, emulsifier, agglomerating agent, pH stabilizer and complexing agent. It can promote the early reaction, shorten the induction period of the early reaction, and shorten the reaction induction period from 1.5h to 0.5h; make the latex system more stable, reduce gelation and gel hanging; ensure that the particle size of the PB latex product is within the appropriate range; ensure the stability of the pH value during the reaction process; complex the divalent metal ions mixed into the system to improve the stability of the latex.

3. Monomer and regulator step-by-step addition technology: The use of monomer and regulator step-by-step addition technology can not only improve the conversion rate, but also make the monomer chain uniform.
