The shear development process of SBS modified bitumen refers to the interaction and change process between SBS modifier and base bitumen in the shear and development stage.
1. In the shearing process, the SBS modifier is cut into small particles to form a large specific surface area, and at the same time, it is fully in contact with the oil and asphaltene in the bitumen.
2. Under the action of high temperature and strong shear, SBS modifier reacts with asphaltene to form block or graft copolymer.
3. The increase of shear time will cause the free radicals in the blend to continue to form stable blocks or grafted copolymers.
4. In the development stage, the temperature is lowered, the shear is changed to agitation, and the free radicals in the blend can continue to form stable blocks or grafted copolymers without being interrupted.
5. In the temperature range of 40℃~90℃, the blend forms a stable network structure, which shows that the changes of storage modulus and loss modulus tend to be gentle, and the bitumen is in a viscous flow state.
In summary, the shear development process of SBS modified bitumen is to form a stable block or graft copolymer through the interaction and reaction of SBS modifier and matrix bitumen in the shear and development stage, so as to improve the performance of bitumen.
