In the preparation of modified styrene butadiene latex, the ratio of different raw materials has a significant effect on the performance of the final product.
1. The mass ratio of carboxylic acid monomer is 1-5. If the amount is too small, it may not be able to effectively participate in the copolymerization reaction, affecting the stability and performance of the emulsion; if the amount is too large, the pH value of the emulsion may change too much, affecting the chemical stability of the product.
2. The ratio of butadiene monomer is between 20-400, which gives the product good elasticity and wear resistance. If the content is too low, the elasticity and wear resistance of the product will decrease; if the content is too high, the viscosity of the emulsion may increase, affecting its processing performance.
3. Methyl styrene or styrene is fixed at 100 parts, which helps to improve the heat resistance and rigidity of the product. The appropriate ratio can ensure that the product maintains good performance at a certain temperature.
4. The dosage of functional monomer is 0.5-5. Adding a certain amount of functional monomers such as siloxane monomers can significantly improve the water resistance and adhesion of the emulsion. If the dosage is insufficient, the improvement of water resistance and adhesion is not obvious; if the dosage is too much, it may increase the cost and have an adverse effect on other properties.
5. The molecular weight regulator ratio is 0.2-2, which can control the molecular weight of the polymer. Improper dosage will lead to uneven molecular weight distribution, affecting the film forming and stability of the product.
6. The range of reactive emulsifier is 0.5-5. The appropriate dosage can make the emulsion system more stable and ensure the uniformity of latex particles. Too little dosage will result in poor emulsion stability; too much may affect the purity and other properties of the product.
7. The dosage of initiator is 0.5-5, which initiates free radical emulsion copolymerization. Insufficient dosage will result in incomplete reaction and low conversion rate; excessive dosage will result in too fast reaction speed and difficulty in controlling the reaction process.
8. The alkaline substance ratio is 1-5, which is used to adjust the pH value of the reaction product to 7-10. Improper dosage will cause the pH value to deviate from the optimal range, affecting the performance and stability of the product.
In short, only by accurately controlling the ratio of various raw materials can modified butadiene styrene latex with excellent performance be prepared to meet the needs of different application scenarios.
